  1. Do keyword research on blogs for wedding planners

First, you need to select a topic and find a keyword to target in your post.  The keyword will be related to the topic of the post and should be sprinkled naturally throughout the blog.  There are a lot of great keyword research tools out there, but I like Keywords Everywhere.  You want to find a keyword with high search volume and low competition.  Blogs for wedding planners can cover a wide variety of topics from real weddings to educational topics, so the possibilities for a keyword are endless!

  1. Choose your images

I like to choose my images next.  If I’m writing a real wedding post, I like to go through the images so I can get a feel for the day and find details to write about.  For a real wedding post, you want to select between 30 to 60 images so that you give your readers a feel for the day, but just enough so that it doesn’t take forever for your website to load.  You’ll also want to resize them so that you don’t don’t slow down your website.

  1. Rename images

You’ll want to rename your images to include the keyword and your business name.  Google’s algorithm will search your images as well, so you want to make sure you include your keyword there and also include your business name.

  1. Create the perfect title for blogs for wedding planners

When writing blogs for wedding planners, you need to come up with a title that includes the keyword and is catchy.   If you have a boring title, it won’t stop people from scrolling when they see your post pop up in the search results, so make sure you choose a creative title!

  1. Write the post

Now it’s time to write the post!  Make sure you break your post up into smaller sections.  Paragraphs of three to five sentences are usually best so that the post is easy to read.  Be sure to include the keyword in the first paragraph and sprinkle it throughout the post.  Don’t keyword stuff because Google doesn’t like that.

  1. Headers

When breaking the post up into smaller sections, you’ll want to use subheaders.  The subheader title should be the topic of the paragraph and you can include the keyword in a couple of the subheaders if it naturally fits.

  1. Include a call to action

A call to action in the conclusion of the post is important in blogs for wedding planners.  A call to action tells your readers what you want them to do.  You can include a link to your services page, contact page, or to another blog post.

  1. Add the post to your website’s backend

When writing your post, you can write in a separate document or write it in your website’s blog post section.  If you write it in a separate document, you’ll want to copy and paste it into your backend so that you can start optimizing it for SEO.

  1. Add the images to the post

Next you’ll want to add the images to your post.  There are several ways to do this, but you typically want at least one image at the top to entice the readers and show them what the post is about.

  1. Add the alt text

After adding the images, you’ll need to add the alt text to the images.  The alt text is a short description of the image that screen readers use to describe images to visually impaired people.  It’s also a place to put the keyword if it fits naturally in the description of the image.

  1. Internal and external links

Having links in your post will help build your credibility with Google.  Internal links, or links that link to your website, keep people on your site longer.  External links are links to other websites and might be used to credit other vendors.  These should open in another tab so that the user doesn’t leave your website.

  1. Meta description

Now you need to write a meta description.  This is a short, one to two sentence description of the blog post that appears as the preview on the search results page.  Be sure to include the keyword in the meta description.

  1. URL Slug

Next you’ll need to create the URL slug.  The URL slug is the part of the URL after the last backslash.  For example in the URL www.kristincrowther.com/contact, the URL slug is contact.  You’ll want to make the URL slug the keyword of the post.

  1. Featured image

Most blog platforms allow the user to select a featured image, so be sure to use an image that will catch the readers eye.

  1. Tags/categories

After all that is done, you can select the appropriate tags and categories for the post.  You typically want to select two to three tags and one category per post.

  1. Proofread

Lastly, make sure you preview your post in a separate window and proofread it before publishing!
